Russia has released the first image of its new nuclear missile, a weapon so powerful that it could wipe out nearly all of the United Kingdom, France or Texas. The RS-28 Sarmat thermonuclear-armed ballistic missile was commissioned in 2011 and is expected to come into service in 2018.

An animal trainer in Florida was hospitalised after being attacked by a tiger while performing for a school field trip at a fair, officials said. A video of the incident allegedly taken by a student on a field trip to the Pensacola Interstate Fair has surfaced on social media. The dramatic footage shows a female trainer with a tiger in an enclosed area, while children and adults a few feet away watch behind a fence. The woman is seen repeatedly hitting the tiger with a rod as the animal grabs her leg and drags her across the ground.

Search is underway for a shooter who sprayed gunfire at a Madera police officer and a passenger during a ride-along. The officer was not injured; the passenger suffered some cuts from broken glass during the shooting. Police said 13 shots were fired and three rounds struck the police cruiser. Two of the shots pierced the windshield. The officer was forced to stop following the driver because his patrol cruiser was disabled. Investigators later found the abandoned Mazda a few blocks away. Officers also found a AR-15-style pistol, police said.

A tiger shark was filmed eating a cow in the middle of the Indian Ocean in this underwater footage. The predator was captured taking lumps out of the dead animal off the coast of the French island of Mayotte. The men filmed the bizarre scenario from on top of a boat and kept their distance until the shark swam away. It is not clear how the horned zebu cow came to being in the water but it’s thought it was on a makeshift vessel 500 metres from shore when it fell off.
