Showtime has debuted the first trailer for “Escape At Dannemora,” and if the upcoming limited series wasn’t previously on your radar than it most certainly will be after viewing the first footage. Thomas Lennon, recently divorced, returns to his childhood home to where he finds a puppet in his deceased brother’s room. He decides to sell the doll for some quick cash at a small-town convention celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the infamous Toulon Murders. All hell breaks loose when a strange force animates the puppets at the convention, setting them on a bloody killing spree that’s motivated by an evil as old as time.

The film is based off of true story of an April 2015 robbery of the Hatton Garden Safe Deposit Company. The heist was plotted and carried out almost entirely by men in their 60s and 70s stealing over $260 million in what became the largest burglary in British history. By March of this year, ten men had been arrested in connection to the robbery.

Set in Ireland during the Great Famine, the thriller follows an Irish Ranger who has been fighting for the British Army abroad, as he abandons his post to reunite with his family. Despite experiencing the horrors of war, he is shocked by the famine’s destruction of his homeland and the brutalisation of his people and his family.

The film, which doesn’t resemble a superhero tentpole, also stars Riz Ahmed, who plays another symbiote called Riot, who is bigger and stronger than Venom. “Human beings are disposable, but man and symbiote combined, this is the new race, the new species, the higher life form,” Ahmed’s character says. Hardy’s Brock apologises at one point for all the havoc that he’s created, simply saying, “I have a parasite,” after threatening to rip off a man’s face, arms, and legs. Will you watch it?
