So is it possible in real life? With upgrades, maybe. But the $50m upgrades in track safety it needs would destroy Bathurst’s soul. Ripping out the walls, filling in the side of the hill to provide run off, stripping out the other side to provide more, straightening the esses and softening the dipper would make the track an urbane bore. Modern Formula One circuits might look stunning, but they lack excitement, ultimately, it’s the older, more dangerous tracks that excite the most. I’d like to see Bathurst remain the hair-raising, balls-out rollercoaster that it is thanks very much.
