Take a guided run down the Red Bull Valparaíso Cerro Abajo 2017 course with Tomas Slavik and Bernardo Cruz. Valparaíso is an ancient port city on Chile’s coast famed for it’s steep terrain and impossibly stacked cliff top homes.

PieePiee2

A large, legendary goalkeeper for an English soccer team who rose from obscurity to meme status is now unemployed, because this is the year 2017 and mankind simply cannot have nice things. Wayne Shaw, the 46-year-old reserve keeper/goalkeeper coach/stadium caretaker of Sutton United, officially submitted his resignation. The reason: He ate a pie on the sidelines during Sutton’s 2-0 loss to Arsenal and got caught up in a gambling controversy.

Derrick Lewis did almost as much damage with his words as his fists. After knocking out Travis Browne in the second round, Lewis up domestic violence allegations made against Browne by his ex-wife, then asked about the whereabouts of Browne’s girlfriend Ronda Rousey.

SubSub2

Subrosa rider Emile Bouwman never disappoints when it comes to his edits. He puts a great deal of effort in making them different in some way, and his latest is amazing! Huge drops and 3’s mixed with some technical street, a sprinkling of Emile’s personality, and featuring Subrosa family member Boy Janssen! Less talk from me, and more watching from you.” – Subrosa Brand. Shout out to Tom Lammerse for filming these bangers like a true pro.

Typically when somebody snaps their tricks we refer to it as pop, but that doesn’t even do Carlos justice. His tricks are more of an explosion, and the way he brings such high level technicality to the table makes it altogether mind-boggling.

BallBall2

This kid got cranked by a ruthless tennis ball, cries from the pain, but still refuses to leave his duty as a ball boy. Good lad! Ball boys and girls go about their duties so professionally we hardly even notice they’re on the court. I’d like to see a documentary following their training process all the way to them taking part in their first major tennis match.

KickKick2

Fighter: “I got knocked out?!? How, what was I doing?” Coach: “You were popping and locking.” English MMA fighter Joe Harding performed Muhammad Ali’s famous shuffle… only to be knocked out with a savage kick to the head seconds later. Harding busted out the party piece during his interim featherweight title fight against Johan Segas at the British Challenge Mixed Martial Events show recently. But it all came crashing to an embarrassing end in the third courtesy of a bit too much hubris – and Segas’ left foot.

The Volcom Pipe Pro has wrapped, and the year’s best WQS event did not disappoint. Kelly Slater took home the trophy, as many might’ve predicted, but along the way the North Shore was graced with some of the best swell a contest there has seen in years. Of the countless angles provided over the course of the week, none compare to the bird’s-eye-view perspective of it all.

For his GQ Style cover story, the ever-controversial Conor McGregor lets loose about everything: Donald Trump, $27,000 shopping sprees, Money Mayweather, and his wild path to becoming the don of the octagon. Watch the video after the jump, and then go and visit GQ Style HERE for the full interview. Warning: McGregor’s tongue is as dangerous as his left fist.

It is a production that is everything Tim Bonython lives for when it comes to documenting surfing. Big wave surfing has evolved so much over the past 10 years and his relationship with this genre of the sport that has grown more than any other. The Big Wave Project is about just that. It’s everything from where its come from to where it is now.

RipRip2

Meet Nico, the 6 year old Italian snowboarder who is already ripping harder than you. He may be in kindergarten but he has some pretty sweet steeze riding with his dad through the Ursus snowpark at Madonna di Campiglio resort in northeast Italy. Let’s hope this little guy doesn’t understand the Run The Jewels lyrics.

WaveWave2

Would you believe me? What if good-ol’-having-a-year-off-Mick Fanning was one of those surfers, and he told you that this wave had him haulin’ arse like an F1 driver down a strip of sand that never seemed to end. Would you believe him? This ain’t no f**king wave pool! This is the real world. This is The Snake.

If you followed the pounding swell at Half Moon Bay recently, you likely saw repost after repost of charger Francisco Porcella’s now-famous tumble down a toothy Mavericks face. Missed it? Check it out now. It was the fan favourite of another giant day at Mavs, not to mention the most lighthearted butt slide we’ve ever seen down, you know, one of the world’s most dangerous waves.

“A new movie about our friend Patrick “Bengel” Rasche. After we published part I, we realised that we should continue the diary. Last year “Bengel” rode some gnarly spots in the “Sauerland” area and told us how many fucks he gives about certain things. This year we tried to find out what inspired him to become the rider he is today. This project is an homage to the glory days of freeriding and another portrait about „Bengel“ and his very own approach towards life, on and off the bike.” – El Flamingo Films.

Byron Bay doesn’t look much like the North Shore of Oahu, yet Soli Bailey somehow still seemed right at home. Start-to-finish in the 2017 Volcom Pipe Pro, Bailey advanced through every heat without making too much noise, a silent assassin. He was consistent and smart in the lineup throughout the event, yet not many on the beach recognised his name as he paddled out for the Final. After his performance today, that’ll no longer be a problem around these parts. Photos via: @brianbielmann and @tomcarey.
