Charge’s Electric All-Wheel Drive Mustang Rockets From 0-62 MPH In Less Than 3.1 Seconds

Ford is working on a Mustang-inspired electric crossover, but fans looking for a more traditional pony car experience can opt for Charge’s retro-inspired model. Available as a coupe or convertible, the car has classic looks as it features an officially licensed shell from a 1960’s Mustang. While the styling is period correct, there are a handful of touches which indicate this isn’t your typical Mustang.

While the styling is retro, the powertrain is anything but. Charge teamed up with Arrival to create a high-tech powertrain which consists of a 64 kWh battery pack and an undisclosed number of electric motors. This enables the car to produce 402 hp (300 kW / 407 PS) and 885 lb-ft (1,200 Nm) of torque.

Thanks to the electric powertrain, the Mustang will be able to accelerate from 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) in less than 3.1 seconds and have a range of 124 miles (200 km). The company’s website also indicates there will be rear- and all-wheel drive variants.
