Video: An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.8 has struck the South Island of New Zealand, killing two and cutting power to some parts of the country


The quake triggered a tsunami warning along the entire east coast, which was later downgraded. The quake struck 20 kilometres south-east of Hanmer Springs in the South Island at a depth of 23 kilometres just after midnight on Sunday and was felt as far away as Auckland.
