Black & White: Tattoo Artist Jun Cha

Los Angeles-based tattoo artist Jun Cha began tattooing at the early age of 15. Within a 6 year span, he has developed a commanding presence for his work with the needle. His talents have helped spawn further projects outside of tattooing including collaborations with both The Hundreds and C1RCA. In featuring the multi-faceted artist, we gain a better understanding of his initial foray into tattooing, his monochromatic style and his inspirations.

Skin Deep – Horiyoshi III

Horiyoshi III is recognized as Japan’s undisputed tattoo master. Born Yoshihito Nakano in 1946, Horiyoshi III had his epiphany when confronted with a Yakuza (Japanese gangster) sporting a full body tattoo — or “suit”—at a public bathhouse as a young boy. Inspired, he visited the studio of  Horiyoshi I for his own tattoo, and subsequently became his apprentice at the age of 25. Now days Horiyoshi’s technique uses an electric needle to freehand the outline of the tattoo straight into the skin, then he uses traditional bamboo tools for filling in color.

Worst Tattoo Customer Ever – Life Is Pain, Learn To Enjoy It

This 23 year old girl wanted to get her first tattoo. After she left, the tattoo shop and artists apparently called her “The worst customer they have ever had!” I can see why…oh man, I need my ear plugs.
