Skateistan – Afghanistan Skate School
Afghanistan isn’t a place where you could expect to see skateboarding. With Kids living in the streets of the war ridden country, and less the 1% of Afghans attending university, skateboarding might seem like the perfect thing to generate some positive activity. Skateistan, Afghanistan’s first Skate School, has been formed by Aussie Skater Oliver Percovich. With numbers growing, the kids in the class have been learning ollies, as well as bowl carving in an old pool, which was once used by the Taliban for public executions.
