The Air Force 1 is a result from Hong Kong-based CLOT, coming up with a concept to release a shoe in celebration of Chinese New year. The shoe uses many small details which represent different things in the Chinese culture, including luck, happiness and prosperity. The overall pattern of the shoe is a Royal red silk, which can actually be burnt and cut away, to reveal a second layer of similar silk pattern in black, seen below. This is highly representational of CLOT’s own philosophy of ‘going beyond the superficial to find deeper meanings’.
